About Platinum Print

Platinum printing is a 19th-century photographic technique that uses a mixture of platinum salts and a photosensitive solution, applied to paper and exposed to transfer the image from a negative. This process produces black-and-white images with rich tonal depth and delicate softness. Known for its unique texture and high artistic value, it is cherished by art collectors but is gradually being replaced due to its high cost and the emergence of modern photographic techniques.

From preparing the solution, coating the paper, and exposing it to ultraviolet light, to developing, cleaning, and drying, each step demands meticulous attention. Environmental factors such as humidity and temperature significantly impact the outcome. The repetitive printing process not only refines the practitioner’s skills but also fosters resilience and patience, making it a metaphorical journey of life’s trials.
